Chart with marked elements

Chart

Graph of the price changes, displayed in the style you choose. Candlestick is the default.

Symbol

The asset being displayed can be selected in the (1) top left corner of the chart. Clicking on the symbol will open the (1) dropdown list of assets/symbols and let you pick a new one.

Current Price

The market price of the asset in the chart is displayed on the right side, in a (10) grey tag.

Time Scale

Displayed at the (6) bottom of the chart. It can be changed at the bottom of the chart or the (2) dropdown list in the top left corner. Zooming in and out with the mousewheel will change the time frame displayed.

Prices

At the (8 and 12) bottom of the chart, you will see the prices for the market, the bid, and ask price.

Buy

There are (8) three blue buttons that open an Order Ticket to Buy, either at the market, bid, or ask prices.

Sell

There are (12) three red buttons that open an Order Ticket to Sell, either at the market, bid, or ask prices.

Price Display

You can (3) toggle on and off the price data tracking your mouse.

Drawing Tools

There is a (4) button to toggle a (11) bar of tools to draw on the chart in many ways, including labeling, and coloring.

Chart Settings

You can (5) customize every aspect of how the chart is displayed.

Flags

This is a (7) toggle to pick which of the two main types of order flags will be the default; Day or GTC (Good Til Cancelled).

1-Click Trade

This is a toggle that turns 1-Click Trading on or off. Enabling 1-Click Trading will change the way the sets of Buy and Sell buttons operate. When 1-Click Trading is enabled, the Order Window will no longer open for editing and confirmation. Instead, the order will send immediately (without asking for confirmation). The trade details are based on the Quantity/Flag settings and which Buy or Sell button you pressed.
Use this when speed is important, but exercise caution due to the lack of a confirmation step.

Symbols

To select the asset you want to display, click the (1) symbols dropdown list in the top left corner of the widget.

You can search through the symbols by scrolling through the list, or typing in the name or symbol of the asset. There is also a dropdown list for different classes of assets, as well as your favorites.

You can also click beside the symbol to sort the assets by different categories (with the default being All).

If you would like to search for a particular asset, enter its name in the typing field at the top of this dropdown box. It will show you any asset that has what you typed, regardless of the word order. You can also write a slash (/) at the start of a search to only return exactly what you have written after the slash.

By default searches will return the 'continuous contract'. This will always be the current contract, often called the 'front month'. You may also search for particular contract months or other less popular contracts by using the slash exact search method. The results will list the continuous contract first, with the specific contract codes below it.

Example: If you search NKD, you will find the continuous contract Nikkei 225, letting you trade contracts for it in the front month. If you search /NKD you will see the continuous contract, followed by the specific front month contract code, and other month's contracts and spread contracts.

Menu Icons

The chart menu appears as a set of icons that are typically at the center-top of the Chart widget. As you resize it you may see the menu move to accommodate the new size.

The icons at the top of the chart from left to right are explained below.

Crosshairs - Click to diplay vertical and horizontal lines that follow your cursor. This also displays a box of price data for information such as Open, High, Low, and Close.
Drawing Panel - Toggles the drawing menu open or closed. To learn more about the Drawing Panel, click on its readme menu option on the left.
Indicator Options - Allows you to specify your chart style and any indicators that you wish. There are a large list of indicators and they each have their own settings menu via a gear icon, to customize color and other attributes.
Auto-Scale Y-Axis - Manages the vertical scaling for you. Click to toggle it between on and off.
Chart Settings - Lets you alter the color of the grid and background, turn the grid on and off, and change the type of Series. For futures assets, the options for Series are Time, Tick, Volume and Range. For forex assets the only Series option is Time.

When you have one of these menus open, you may click its icon or the chart widget closing (X) to close the options menu.

Orders

The main place to see your orders is inside the Orders widget. However, you can also see positions displayed on the chart. The position will be marked at its average price with a horizontal line across the chart, and a tag of the price on the (10) right.
The position will also change its colors from green to red, as the position moves between a profit and loss. You can also click on the X in the tag on the right to close that position or order, rather than using the positions or order tab.

In addition to placing orders with the Buy/Sell buttons and the Order Ticket window, you can also place trades with hotkeys. Holding the Ctrl button on your keyboard and clicking your mouse on the chart will open an Order Ticket for a limit order at the price level matching where you clicked on the chart. Holding both Ctrl and Shift while clicking on the chart will create a stop order ticket. These commands also work with 1-Click Trading, allowing to instantly place stop or limit order where you need them.

For users who are connected to the Rithmic data feed for Futures trading, please note: The Profit/Loss figure shown on the chart is calculated based off of the Bid price for short positions and the Ask price for long positions. This is in contrast to Last Price, which is the price from the most recent trade.
